FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR A CLASS?
Go to the events and look at the classes that are available and have not filled up. When you know the time and date of the class you want to participate in, you will need to put a deposit down to hold your spot. This will confirm you are in the class. The remainder will be due when you arrive for your class. A week before the class you will receive a reminder message from us with additional information. As we do have a waiting list, there will be no “deposit refund” if you miss your class without sufficient notice given to us so that we can fill the spot.
WHERE DOES THE YOGA TAKE PLACE?
It is held in a grassy area near the barn sectioned off with the goats. We are trying to offer classes at cooler times in the evenings and more frequently as it cools off.
DO YOU HAVE RESTROOMS?
Yes. We have a fully functional restroom! Not a port-a-potty!
DO YOU HAVE WATER?
Yes. You can bring your own water and refilling your bottle out of the tap is free. We will also offer ice cold bottled water for $1.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN A CLASS?
We try to keep it small (25 or under) so that we have a good ratio of goats to guests.
WILL THE GOATS POOP OR PEE?
Goats are just farm animals walking around among you. They are not trained not to poop or pee, they just do it at will, but NORMALLY they do NOT have an accident directly on you. Not saying it could not happen, it is just rare. It could possibly be in the grass around you, but they have very small pills very lightweight and it is easily brushed away.
DO THE GOATS HAVE HORNS?
Some of them do, but most do not. You can be poked by a horn. They do not butt (only each other for play or attention). They like their heads scratched though. Our animals are hand raised, most are bottle babies. They have human interaction on a daily basis.
ARE THE GOATS CLEAN AND HEALTHY?
Yes. We keep them very healthy and groomed. They love to be brushed!!! We have some brushes if you prefer not to scratch them yourself. They all have their own personalized collars on for easy handling if they get too much in your space.
HOW OLD ARE THE GOATS?
We have all different ages. It is impossible to keep babies all the time (as much as I would love to) because they don’t stay little forever. We are not a facility that uses baby goats and then sends them to market. You may want to research this. Our goats are a miniature breed and are much smaller than most goats. The babies are fun, but the older goats are more chill and like to be petted and loved on, not quite as hyper. They all have different personalities. We do plan to add a few babies each fall and spring to amp up the fun!
WILL THE GOATS BITE OR HURT ME?
The goats want your attention and it is second nature to a goat to nibble. You really cannot be around a goat without them nibbling; it is their way of saying “Hey. . . I’m here and I want some attention.” They WILL nibble at your fingers, your clothes and ESPECIALLY your hair (so good idea to wear it up). Hoodie strings are their favorite. They are jealous of each other and may butt one another vying for your attention. If a goat jumps on you, they could accidentally and unintentionally scratch you with their hooves. This is why I strongly recommend a T-shirt covering your back and leggings or yoga pants (not shorts) and above all putting your hair up. We work with the goats and try to teach them a few manners as they are older not to rear up and climb on you while you are just standing around. If you are sitting or bending, they see that as an invitation. Depends if the mood strikes them or not. They all do have collars, so you may grab their collar and redirect them if they are too much in your personal space.
I DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT YOGA . . . BUT I STILL WANT TO SEE THE GOATS.
These yoga classes are beginner style and do not require extensive yoga knowledge. We make time afterwards for everyone to have goat time and just chill. We also have special or private events available that do not have to involve yoga OR can involve a more extensive yoga class with a group of friends. Just come on and wing it and learn, we all have to start somewhere!
CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN?
Here at Oh My Goat we plan to offer a 20.00 STUDENT admission for children ages 6 and over who are planning to fully participate in the yoga class with their guardian in attendance. The guardian will have to sign the waiver for any child under 18. We do not have additional staff that can watch unsupervised children.
